BRIEF: Package an emotion...


“GUILE is a product line that dares to deceive, shock, and provoke. It invites consumers to confront their assumptions and reconsider the nature of what they consume.”


My concept was inspired by the notion that a lot of the time we don’t read all the details about what we consume and where it comes from, typically being drawn to the product by the packaging, brand, or taglines. I wanted to highlight this through creating a product line of tinned sardines and “meat”.
The packaging will be very candid and won’t technically be hiding what it contains, but when the consumer realises what they have purchased they will be SHOCKED.

The product design will be in keeping with the vintage, luxury sardine tins found in boutique grocers. The audience i’m targeting through this concept should know better than to purchase without really understanding where their food is coming from, as well as what the vague phrases and names mean. This leans into an element of amusement, as this packaging concept highlights how we often trust in the “European” and “vintage” aesthetic more than simply reading.
